APPLICATION FOR STATUS AS FREE GEEK ORGANIZATION OR AFFILIATE

Before Starting

Before going forward, make sure you have completed the following tasks. These are here to make certain you understand what a Free Geek is and have properly established communication with the mothership:

  • Read the Free Geek Principles
  • Decide: are you applying to be an affiliate or use the Free Geek name?
  • Familiarize yourself with the basic documentation on our wiki:
    • Free Geek Startups
    • Getting Your Own Free Geek Started
    • Mission Statement
    • Free Geek Bylaws
    • Site Analysis Guidelines
    • E-Waste Best Practices
    • Free Geek Definitions
  • Join the Free Geek Startups mailing list
  • Introduce yourselves to the rest of us on that list.
  • Review the application form (below), gather any information you will need to answer it, and ask for any clarification you need on the startups list.

After receiving this information we will get back to you using the contact information you have provided. If you have not heard back from us within two weeks of application, please contact us on the Startups list or if need be, by telephone (ask for a member of the "propagation" committee). The decision process regarding the acceptance of new franchises can take as little as 2-4 weeks, or as long as 10-15, depending on how many issues arise and how available the geographically disparate members of our application review committee are.
